FAQ
What is your booking process?
In order to reserve your session date and time, a 50% non-refundable retainer must be submitted, which will be applied to your total package price. The remainder of your total is due no later than 48 hours prior to the session day. All additional fees from add-ons approved the day of the session, are due within 24 hours after the session ends. Failure to pay in full will result in images not being edited or released. Any delays in delivery timeframe due to payment delays are the sole responsibility of the client.
On rare occasions, and only upon my approval, cancellations may be rescheduled once, and the retainer will be moved to secure another date. No other exceptions will be made and cancellation of the rescheduled date means you would need to leave another retainer if you wish to proceed with service at another time.
Should I show up at my scheduled session time?
Part of th terms you agree to when signing a contract for services with me is that you will arrive to your session location 15-20 minutes early. This time allows you to arrive relaxed, use the restroom, and handle any unexpected delays (weather, crowds, parking, etc...) and be ready for the photoshoot. Arriving late (after the session start time) can result in a late/rescheduling fee. Being on time doesn't only affect you and I but also my other clients, so out of respect for all of my clients, it is imperative for me to maintain my schedule.
Can I extend the session on the day of?
My packages are designed to maximize the time for each project. In order to make sure you get every last second out of it, I ask that you arrive 15-20 minutes early so that we can begin on time and not have to use that time for set-up, make-up touch-ups, changing, or any other small tasks that can take away from your session.
With that said, if my scheduling allows and extra time is needed or desired, additional time can be added for a nominal fee, which would have to be paid at the time of extension.
Do you shoot anything other than lifestyle, brand, and products?
The short answer is, no. I'm a firm believer in doing a few things exceptionally well rather than many (or all!) things poorly or average. For that reason I don't shoot weddings, newborns, or similar big life stage events. While my couple lifestyle portraits can be used as engagement photos, I don't specifically shoot those either.
What's the difference? Traditional engagement photos generally have a light and airy editing style and are done by the same photographer that will photograph the wedding. My lifestyle couples photos are meant to be natural and casual, are often taken in your home or at an in-town location that speaks to the couple, and will have the same dark and moody editing style I'm known for. If that speaks to you and your partner and you guys fit that vibe - connect with me and we can discuss!
Do I have to order prints through you?
While you are not required to order prints through me, it is highly recommended. Photographers recommend printers that they trust and have confidence in to ensure the best outcome possible for your prints. While mistakes can happen anywhere, they are less likely with a print shop that specializes in working with photographers and therefore can offer the best quality prints for the price.
You invested in amazing images - why minimize the investment by going with a lower quality print shop? It's a no-brainer when you really think of it. Only pay to get your images printed ONCE and love them from the start.
Will you do light and airy edits?
No. With the exception of product images, like "hero" shots or other stylized product shots, my images will always accentuate the shadows and blacks (all the darker areas) of an image and use the highlights and whites (lighter parts of the image) to draw the eye to the subjects of the image. While light and airy imagery is beautiful, my style leans into a moodier aesthetic.
What are my image usage rights?
You have the right to use all images for personal use only - commercial usage (reselling) is strictly prohibited. Images are not to be altered in any way. You can use your images for personal collections, social media and web use, marketing collateral, etc... If you have any additional questions about how you can use your images, please don't hesitate to ask!
What should I expect the day of my session?
Expect a relaxed, fun, and collaborative experience! I’ll guide you through everything—from posing to prompts—so you never feel stiff or unsure. Arrive 15–20 minutes early to settle in and shake off any nerves. We can set the vibes with some music to make you comfortable and simply chat, just like hanging out with a friend (who just so happens to have a camera). Come as you are, and trust that I’ll capture you in your best light.
What kind of gear do you use?
I currently use the Nikon D-40 camera body with various lenses of varying focal lengths. The most important thing is the photographer, not the camera. The newest gear without an artistic eye and skill is just a hunk of plastic and mirrors. ;-)
